So You're About to Take a Barre Class...

This past weekend I had the opportunity to check out the brand new Bar Method in Baltimore! The trendy studio opened their doors in Locust Point on April 20th and I was DYING to see. Let me tell you, I was not disappointed. Their place is an absolute DREAM. Lined with the most gorgeous light wood flooring and white walls. The whole space is very “Instagram Worthy”. I honestly which I had taken more pictures! But I was more focused on how this was going to be my first barre class and I had no idea what to expect.

Luckily, I didn’t have to worry about being a total Barre Newbie because the ladies at Bar Method were beyond helpful from the minute I walked in the door all the way up until I left.

When I first entered the gorgeous space, I was greeted by some instructors and receptionists and given a tour of the place. They have two airy studio spaces, a large locker room (complete with showers and Aveda products) and a coffee/tea bar. I mean what more could you want?!

After taking my mini tour, I was shown the studio space I would be working in. A couple of lovely women helped to show me all the equipment I would need and introduced me to my instructor, Kristen. Everyone helped me feel at ease and took away all of my worries when it came to knowing nothing about barre.

Class starts and I was instantly thrown into the world of barre.

The music was awesome, the instructors beyond helpful and the supportiveness of everyone was incredible. It felt like we were all in this together. Learning and growing. By the end of the class I was already feeling it in my calves.

All of the movements were slowed and controlled but MAN, did they target those muscles. After completing my “Three Rounds of Thighs” I was shakiiiinnngg. And apparently so was everyone else! Kristen told us “You’re going to feel your legs shaking and that’s ok!”

At the very end, our instructor had us sit crossed legged and close our eyes. She told us to take deep breaths and to “thank yourselves and your bodies for getting you here today”. It was such a perfect ending that truly solidified the purpose of being there.

After class there were snacks and juice from Earth Shake Baltimore (I had the down fresh squeezed which was delicious!). I also got to take a better look around the studio before heading out. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw it all on my stories!

I can’t wait to head back to Bar Method for more classes and hope to see you there!

P.S. They are currently running a New Client Special for $99 for 30 days unlimited, so I’d jump on it while you can!

xoxo Colleen
