Fall is here, fall is here! Okay it might not “officially” be fall and it might still be 90 degrees out most days, but mentally I’m ready for fall! Cozy sweaters, hot apple cider and pumpkin patches.

Fall is always my favorite time of the year. It’s not quite holiday season yet but it’s close. The temperatures just start to cool down but aren’t too unbearable yet. Everyone just seems like they are in a better mood come fall time.

Fall season also means the return of New York Fashion Week and Autumn Fashion Trends. While I haven’t made it to Fashion Week yet, I still love to follow along via social media and see (mostly) what attendees are wearing. I live for the street style aspect of NYFW.

But likely a lot of what you see on Instagram and in the pages of Vogue is a bit unattainable or maybe a bit outside of your comfort zone. That’s why I’m here to bring you wearable trends for fall!

I love taking current trends and twisting them to fit my personal style. This way you’re still investing in pieces that you will wear for years while still keeping up with the latest trends!

POWER SUITS

I have been obsessing over fun and cool women’s suits lately. Pastels and fun lapels are giving me all those Boss Babe vibes! Below are some affordable options to make it your own.

ANIMAL PRINT

Okay so obviously animal print is nothing new in the fashion world. But honestly I have always somewhat avoided and never felt it was “for me”. Recently I’ve seen it making a big come back (did it ever really go away?) and I had to try it out. Honestly, I’m kinda digging it! I loved these silk pants from J.Crew and could see them being a staple in my wardrobe.

PEARL ACCENTS I’ve always been a pearl lover. I feel like they add such femininity and class to any outfit. Lately I’ve seen them incorporated into barrettes, earrings and more. Below are a few of my favorite ways to incorporate them into your look.

SATIN MIDI SKIRTS

When I say I have been obsessing over this skirt for awhile, I am not exaggerating. So when I finally purchased it I was ecstatic and wore it twice in one week! I feel like satin midi skirts are the perfect skirt staple. You can easily dress them up or dress them down. I’m sharing how I did both below along with a few other favorites.

Growing up with every new season, we’d pile into the mini-van and head to the mall to go clothes shopping. Sweaters for fall, jackets for winter, skirts for spring and bathing suits for summer. Although I’m now much older, I still keep that tradition! Picking up the latest trends for the season but now more expanded into home decor and more.

Summer has just rounded the corner, so Peter and I made our way over to The Mall in Columbia to scout out and pick up some new trends for summer! It ended up being the perfect day for it. The sun was shining, there was a beautiful breeze blowing and we were ready to shop!

First, we popped into Williams-Sonoma because I love their pre-made cocktail mixes for summer! I picked up this peach one from the Trisha Yearwood collection and ohmygosh this is THE PERFECT summer cocktail! And the best part is that you just have to add your choice of liquor! I chose vodka and topped it with some fresh peaches and mint leaves. They also look perfect on the little marble tray we picked up there too. Perfect for delivering drinks from the bar to the pool.

Typically in the summer I hate wearing make up because it’ll melt off in 0.2 seconds and I love to stick to a tinted moisturizer for those days that I just want a little bit of coverage. I popped into Aveda just to look around and they have the perfect tinted moisturizer! It comes in a full-range of shades and after wearing it for a few days now I can say it’s totally sweat-proof.

At the current moment, the patio attached to our apartment is pretty pitiful looking. We have a table set and one over-sized chair. We honestly never sit out there and it makes me so sad because I love just chilling outside! It’s in need of a re-vamp so we headed over to Arhaus to gather some inspiration. I love Arhaus’ casual yet sophisticated vibe. Their outdoor furniture is classic but still functional.

I also loved all the little plants they had around and thought it might be a great addition to spruce up our space!

Now comes the fun part, summer clothing shopping! I decided to go into Anthropologie because they always seem to have nice, lightweight pieces that are perfect for summer. And boy they did NOT disappoint!

I loved these striped linen-style pants with the rope belt. I ended up wearing these to brunch the very next day, I couldn’t wait! You can dress them up like I did for brunch with a silk tank and heels. But you can also dress them down for lounging by the beach in a cotton t-shirt.

This baby-doll style dress was so light and perfect for any summer events like bridal showers or weddings.

I love a simple top like this one for work. It’s nice enough that you can wear it to the office but you don’t have to worry about overheating in the 90 degree heat.

Whenever I think about the beach or pool, one of my next thoughts is usually: What book am I going to read? I had been hearing so much about Where the Crawdads Sing and while I usually like to borrow books from the library, this one is a hard one to get! I luckily was able to find it at Barnes and Noble and can’t wait to read it with my toes in the sand later this month.

We ended the night with dinner at Maggiano’s! It was certainly busy for a Friday night but our waitress was the nicest and we had a wonderful dinner. I started with a yummy red sangria and we both chose pasta for dinner. What I love about Maggiano’s is that they offer Gluten Free pasta! I was able to get my favorite Baked Ziti without suffering any consequences.

The Mall in Columbia was the perfect place to grab everything I needed for this summer. From brunch outfits and lightweight make up to pool side reads and cocktails.

Alright ladies, I know you've been there. You have a big meeting, conference or presentation and you have no clue what to wear. You want to be professional and presentable but still be yourself! But low and behold all of your business clothes consist of black skirts and white button downs!

Finding women's business-wear can be hard. Day-to-day my office is pretty casual, as most places are nowadays too. But when there's an important meeting or a big conference, I like to dress to impress! But lately I felt like everything I wore that was considered"business-wear", wasn't portraying my true style. I felt uncomfortable, which is exactly the opposite of how I wanted to feel in that situation! I wanted to feel confident and stylish while keeping my professional demeanor.

Since then I had taken a look at my wardrobe, scoured Pinterest and honestly, just surveyed other women at these events that I thought looked "cool". I'm so excited to share what I've learned so that maybe it can help you out in your next business professional situation!

Throw a blazer on it!

Similar Dress | Similar Bag | Heels

One of my favorite ways to make my outfit instantly professional is to just throw on a blazer. I usually gravitate towards more "fun" blazers in unique colors or with interesting accents. I then love to just toss it overtop of a shift dress; it's perfect! This dress was actually my bridal shower dress and now I'm getting more wear out of it with this spring business look.

Keep it Simple.

Sweater | Skirt | Flats

Black and white, sweater and skirt. I think a lot of times when we think of business-wear we try to complicate it. But it can truly be as simple as pairing a solid sweater with a solid or printed skirt. I love this white wool skirt with my solid black sweater and black flats. It feels so professional but still so fresh and true to myself.

Pops of Color.

Similar Necklace | Loafers

There's nothing I love more than shaking up a traditional color palette with small pops of color! Not only are these loafers beyond comfortable, they're so cute! I pair them with a similar tone necklace and it instantly elevates this navy and white outfit. This is a go-to for long conferences or events because it's professional but also so so comfortable! No need to hassle with heel pain.

Casual Tops & Business Bottoms.

Similar Top | Bottoms

This doesn't apply to every case but a lot of times business-wear doesn't always require a button down or a silk blouse. I love pairing a pair of dress pants with a more casual, fun cotton top like this peplum one! It's a little more unique while still keeping it professional.
